Access to our campuses is limited due to COVID-19, but we're still here to support you.

Fall 2021: How Sheridan is keeping you safe on campus

Ventilation upgrades

Ventilation upgrades: The airflow and ventilation in our spaces has been analyzed and evaluated, and filtration systems have been replaced pursuant to recommendations from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for COVID-19. We continue to undertake measures to reduce the risk of airborne contaminants.

Screening through Sheridan Alert app

Mandatory screening for campus access: Everyone coming to campus must pass a daily self-assessment on the Sheridan Alert! App.

Covid Training

COVID-19 Safety Training: All students and employees who are required on campus must complete mandatory training to ensure they are aware of the relevant health and safety protocols.

Vaccines: Health Canada has deemed COVID-19 vaccinations safe and effective and view them as the primary driver of our return to normal activities.

Sheridan requires everyone who comes to campus to demonstrate that they are fully vaccinated.

Contact Tracing

Contact Tracing : Sheridan conducts contact tracing if there is a suspected COVID exposure so everyone entering campus must use designated entrances and tap their onecard.

Cleaning and Disenfecting

Cleaning & disinfection: We clean and disinfect frequently touched areas in common spaces at least twice daily and disinfect all Sheridan spaces once daily. In specific labs, studios, and workshops, Sheridan community members are asked to clean equipment and materials before and after use. Many spaces are disinfected using a new electrostatic spraying system, covering more high-touch areas in a fraction of the time.

Classroom and Shared Space Capacity Limits

Capacity limits for classrooms & shared spaces: Our study spaces, labs, and studios are available for safe in-person activity at limited numbers, while respecting physical distancing and other safety requirements regularly reviewed. Common spaces are available for students between classes, as are bookable spaces for individual and group study. In classroom spaces, physical distancing will be in accordance with Ministry of College and Universities guidance. Signs are posted with the maximum capacities for each space.

Social Distancing Signage

Navigation signage and physical distancing: Signs throughout the buildings are helping avoid congestion and indicate how to safely line-up and wait for classes, the cafeteria, and printers, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment

Masks and PPE: Everyone on campus must wear a Sheridan-issued medical mask at all times, except when eating or drinking (while appropriately physically distanced). Sheridan will provide every student and employee with a medical mask.

Managing Positive Cases

Managing positive cases and outbreaks: Sheridan has had minimal COVID-19 cases throughout the pandemic. Working closely with local public health units, we continue to enforce strict processes for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing to contain outbreaks and reduce the risk of transmission.

Public Health Information

Sheridan will continue to work closely with Region of Peel Public Health and Halton Public, as we have throughout the pandemic. For their most up to date, localized public health guidance and information, visit the Region of Peel or Halton Region websites.
