Derrick Ross is the president of Slaight Music – an incubator that develops budding Canadian musicians and supports the Canadian music community through various initiatives. Over his 35-year career, Ross has worked in all aspects of the music sector. He was a drummer with Juno-nominated band the Spoons before moving to the marketing side of the music business, working in promotion, marketing and artist representation. He’s represented internationally renowned Canadian artists such as Tom Cochrane and Carley Rae Jepsen and has worked with a string of success stories including Coldplay, Kardinall Offishall, Nickelback and Keith Urban among many others.
