William  Barry

Professor, School of Applied Computing

William has been a professor with the school of Applied Computing in Sheridan's Faculty of Applied Science and Technology since 2012. Before coming to Sheridan College he worked in the video game industry for 12 years as a Project Director and Lead Programmer. While working in the industry he successfully published: X-Men Destiny for the X-Box 360 and PS3, Too Human for the X-Box 360, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes for the GameCube.

In 2012 he received his Masters in Science from Brock University on Generating Aesthetically Pleasing Images in a Virtual Environment. He has also been published in the Genetic Evolutionary Computational Conference on "Virtual Photography Using Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization"

William's current role at Sheridan College is co-coordinator in Game Development - Advanced Programming where he teaches with industry examples and challenges the students with real world problems. His instruction, built from years in the field, strengthens the conceptual and practical knowledge that gives students an edge when they graduate.
