Proposed Executive Compensation Program

The Government of Ontario has introduced a new framework for determining executive compensation in the Broader Public Sector, which includes hospitals, agencies, universities and colleges.

The framework regulation, which came into effect in September 2016, caps salary and performance-related payments for designated executives, such as a President and Vice Presidents, at no more than the 50th percentile of an institution’s comparator group. It also prohibits signing bonuses, retention bonuses, cash housing allowances and insured benefits not generally provided to non-executive managers.

As part of the process to finalize our program, and in keeping with our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, Sheridan made its proposed Executive Compensation Program open for public review and input for a 30-day period, ending Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Thank you to those who submitted feedback. Your input will assist Sheridan to create a program that helps us attract and retain the best leaders possible to deliver high-quality public services while also managing responsibly.

All comments will remain anonymous, but will be kept on record for two years at the request of the Government of Ontario. Comments will be shared in aggregate with Sheridan’s Board of Governors. Once finalized, the report will be posted on Sheridan’s Corporate Reporting page.
