Sheridan to celebrate more than 7,800 graduates at Spring Convocation
Sheridan will celebrate more than 7,800 graduates this week as the Class of 2026 enters the workforce across Canada and beyond. The 67th convocation ceremonies mark a milestone as graduates prepared with in-demand skills and experience step into the next phase of their careers. Twelve spring convocation ceremonies will take place from Monday, June 8 to Thursday, June 11 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont.
Graduates will be recognized from the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design (FAAD), the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies (FAHCS), the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), the Pilon School of Business (PSB), Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), and Sheridan at CCTT (Canadian College of Technology and Trades).
“At Sheridan, we believe access to education changes lives and strengthens communities. Our graduates leave with the skills, confidence and perspective to create impact where it matters most, in their careers and in the world around them,” said Dr. Cindy Gouveia, President and Vice Chancellor of Sheridan College. “We’re proud to welcome nearly 8,000 new Bruins to our alumni family.”
This spring also marks the first graduates from the Practical Nursing – Leadership and Education and the Computer Systems Technician – Cyber Security programs, designed to address the growing demand in health care and cyber security.
Each ceremony will open with a welcome from the Spirit Vision Singers and Dancers, followed by a land acknowledgment by Chief Margaret Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Indigenous graduates will receive a hand-beaded thunderbird pin created by beading artist Bead and Bloomwork on behalf of Sheridan’s Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support.
The ceremonies will feature musical performances by Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance students Angelica Gicale and Frankie McKay, 12 valedictory speeches and a keynote address by Dr. Gouveia. Each ceremony will be livestreamed. With this year’s graduates, Sheridan’s alumni community will exceed 250,000 members worldwide.
