Sheridan's Architectural Technology program hosted a small business bazaar sale this month at Hazel McCallion Campus as part of a class project that reinforced entrepreneurial concepts and raised nearly $300 for charity.
Products and services sold at the bazaar included stickers, plush toys, jewelry, yarn, tea, snacks, drinks, Indian food delicacy and event management services. All profits from the sale were donated to the Mississauga Food Bank.
Third-year student Kate Panares, who has sold homemade crochet plushies and keychains as a part-time business for the past two years, saw several benefits in participating in the project. "It taught me how to prioritize time management, manage finances and market my products," she said. "I also learned about the power of giving back to your community. It's something that can help your business, especially if you're starting small."
