EDGE, an entrepreneurship hub for equity-deserving impact entrepreneurs to grow their ventures, collaborate, and develop new skills, was a visionary sponsor of the event, helping facilitate important opportunities and conversations on how women-led businesses can recover from economic challenges, innovate to drive success, connect and learn from each other, and address and overcome barriers to gender equity.
This included leading a panel discussion featuring Audrey Rochette, Sheridan's Associate Vice-President of Indigenous Engagement External and Noreen Javed, EDGE’s Interim Director and facilitated by Firuzan Mistry, EDGE’s Marketing and Communications Manager, where they shared their insights and strategies for fostering equity, rethinking leadership approaches, and addressing barriers to personal and professional fulfillment.
“At Sheridan EDGE, we believe entrepreneurs can transform our communities, the environment and our local economies,” said Noreen Javed, EDGE’s Interim Director of Entrepreneurship and Changemaking. “Women face unique challenges as they navigate the work of leadership, and when you layer in our other identities, you need to rely on a community of supporters and allies. The panel was an opportunity to talk about our distinct values, how they’ve shaped our leadership styles, and the importance of placemaking and belonging."
EWB is a two-day conference that offers education and connections to support women in business and the expansion of the business sector in Southern Ontario and beyond.
