Sheridan students are bringing their creativity to the global stage this summer as part of Toronto Made: The World in a City Illuminated, with their large-scale projections lighting up the historic Malting Silos during the World Cup.

From 9 p.m. to midnight on June 17, 27 and July 5, 11, 19 visitors to Toronto’s waterfront will be treated to original student work from Sheridan’s Bachelor of Animation, Bachelor of Illustration and Bachelor of Interaction Design programs.

“This is an incredible opportunity for our students to showcase their talent to the world,” says Mark Jones, Dean of the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design. “Art and sport both have the unique ability to bring people together. This project is an opportunity to highlight that sense of community and provides an opportunity for visitors to experience the region’s incredible home-grown creative talent.”

Grounded in themes of culture, community, the natural environment, and sport Sheridan’s students have created works that include animated films, illustrated stories and immersive digital experiences that tap into their storytelling talents to celebrate Toronto’s diversity and the historic moment of hosting the World Cup. Their work represents just some of the many ways Sheridan-trained artists have lent their creativity to World Cup celebrations. Last year, Bachelor of Illustration alumnus Dave Murray was selected as the illustrator of Toronto’s host-city poster

Sheridan student’s work will be featured during the Illuminating Higher Education themed evenings.  Visitors can enjoy the Toronto Made exhibit on the Canada Malting Silos, East Side, by the Music Garden. Toronto Made runs until July 27 and is presented by the City of Toronto as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts initiative and funded by the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Toronto Secretariat under the Arts & Culture and Tourism & Economic Development Advisory Boards.
