Angela Bruce Chapter IODE presents gift to Centre for Elder Research
Long-time donors Angela Bruce Chapter IODE recently paid a visit to Trafalgar Campus to celebrate their support of the Centre for Elder Research, one of Sheridan’s renowned research and innovation centres turning applied research into real-world solutions across Canada. It’s the latest gift to the College, which the local chapter of IODE Canada has supported with awards and bursaries.
The group funds its charitable work via proceeds generated from the IODE Thrift Store they operate on Kerr Street in Oakville.
“Partnerships empower us to keep driving solutions that address the real challenges facing our communities in Ontario and beyond,” said Dr. Lia Tsotsos, Director of Research and Innovation of Generator at Sheridan. “At the Centre for Elder Research, our innovative, inclusive work is helping people experience healthier, more dignified aging — and we’re grateful to have IODE’s support as we make that impact.”
The Angela Bruce Chapter IODE has been an integral part of the Oakville community since 1933. Over the past 91 years, the women of IODE have continuously adapted to meet the evolving needs of Oakville, the surrounding areas, and Mississauga. In recent years, its focus has been on supporting education and addressing issues related to shelter and food insecurity, particularly for families, women, and children.
