Sheridan announces new members in the Pilon School of Business Hall of Fame

Jun 2, 2023

PSB Hall of FameSheridan is pleased to welcome Domenic Perri and Dominic Gallego as this year’s inductees to the Pilon School of Business Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding achievements and the stellar contributions they have made to business and their communities.

“The Pilon School of Business Hall of Fame honours our alumni who have achieved significant success in their careers,” says Karen Booth, Interim Dean of the Pilon School of Business. “They demonstrate the best of what Sheridan graduates offer to the business community, and they inspire current students. This year, our inductees represent the entrepreneurship, innovation and resilience we strive to impart to all our students.”

Domenic Perri (pictured, left) is a partner at Vertex Ventures US, a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley that makes high-conviction early-stage investments in technology startups. Prior to Vertex, he led corporate and business development teams at companies including Dropbox, Tesla, and Flashpoint. He spent over a decade at Juniper Networks overseeing mergers and acquisitions and partnerships and also held senior roles at Internet Security Systems, which was acquired by IBM for nearly $2 billion. He graduated from the Business program at Sheridan in 1997 and began his career at BRAK Systems in Mississauga, working alongside founder Robert Herjavec as the leading cybersecurity provider in Canada up until AT&T acquired the company.

Perri is also one of the original C100 Charter Members. C100 is the preeminent global community of Canadians in tech, a mission-driven network committed to supporting, inspiring and connecting the most promising Canadian entrepreneurial leaders.

“I am honoured to be inducted into the Pilon School of Business Hall of Fame. My time at Sheridan gave me the foundation to pursue a career in innovation and technology and the privilege to support bold founders building the future through technology,” Perri says.  “I am grateful to have my alma mater recognize this work, and to be joining this special group of business leaders.”

Gallego (pictured, right) is the recipient of the Recent Graduate award, given to a graduate who has achieved significant success within a decade of graduation. A 2014 Accounting graduate, Gallego is the owner of Nomad Custom Trailers and Snaptique. He started Snaptique, his mobile photo booth company, during his last year at Sheridan when he tried to rent a photo booth for his upcoming marriage, but none was available. He created his own, and realized that there was a huge demand for it among others looking to celebrate their special moments.

Just before the pandemic, Gallego started Nomad Custom Trailers, refurbishing old trailers and customizing them to suit the needs of his clients. When the pandemic hit, his business grew as the demand for campers and travel trailers soared. Today, he has built Nomad into a company with 14 employees and a 10,000 sq. ft. shop.

“I am thrilled to be inducted into the Hall of Fame,” says Gallego. “Being an entrepreneur has always been a passion of mine, and it has taken tremendous hard work and perseverance.  It’s an honour to see my work recognized in this way, and I hope current students can see how they too can overcome challenges to pursue their dreams.”

Sheridan’s Pilon School of Business Hall of Fame was established in 2006 to honour the accomplishments of outstanding business alumni who are leaders in industry. Induction to the Hall of Fame acknowledges business prominence and distinguished contributions to industry.
