Launch of forward-thinking programs positions Sheridan graduates to solve real-world problems
The new programs, which include five post-graduate certificates and one honours baccalaureate degree program, were created with an eye towards the future, geared towards graduates and mature students already in the workforce.
The five new post-graduate certificates include: Clinical Kinesiology, Clinical Research, Internet of Things and Machine Intelligence, Regulatory Affairs and Urban Design. The new degree program, Honours Bachelor of Social and Community Development, is designed for individuals who have completed a diploma in Social Service Work, Social Service Work – Gerontology, Community Work or high affinity programs.
All programs were developed with insight from industry professionals who brought real-world experience and intel into the key skills workers need in today’s evolving economy.

Applying knowledge acquired from their Kinesiology degree in clinical environments through a blend of problem-based learning and supervised placements, graduates of this innovative program will be armed with 728 hours of hands-on experience – more than any other kinesiology program in Ontario.
Professors in this program also teach in Sheridan’s Bachelor of Health Sciences — Kinesiology and Health Promotion degree program and have real-world experience with clients. Our instructors know every patient is different and will help students plan and execute customized programs.

More doctors and health-care professionals are turning to evidence-based medicine – the practice of using the scientific evidence from clinical research to make decisions. This is prompting governments to invest more in research and development, leading to an increasing number of clinical trials. Organizations are looking for employees that are knowledgeable about current practices.
Supported by video lectures and virtual reality (VR) labs that simulate real-world consenting rooms, students studying this burgeoning field will develop both the general and specialized skillsets needed to work in clinical research.

Use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices is projected to triple by 2030 as businesses and consumers become more reliant on smart connected devices. Designed for graduates of technology programs and mature students already working in the industry, Sheridan’s Internet of Things and Machine Intelligence certificate is the first program of its kind in Ontario and aims to help students build, maintain and operate intelligent IoT systems that make our world better, safer and more efficient.
Students will study concepts that are critical in making intelligent and connected digital systems, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, sensors and machines, robotics, cybersecurity, and edge computing.

Now, our homes are packed with smart devices powered by IoT technologies. It has affected many aspects of our life. We need to be literate about the technology we’re using.”

Now, more than ever, the health industry needs trained specialists to ensure new products comply with national and international regulations.
After one year of collaborative and interactive learning through simulated lecture halls and virtual reality labs, students will learn how to inspect and audit food and agricultural products, drugs, veterinary products, surgical equipment, medical devices and more. When students graduate, they’ll be prepared to help companies gain approval to manufacture and market products.

Cities need designers who understand the built environment – the human-made layout of the communities in which people live, work and play. This eight-month certificate responds to that demand, preparing students to design urban environments that are connected, inclusive and sustainable.
Students will be able to put the concepts of mobility, wayfinding, placemaking and ecology into practice during a field placement. Sheridan is one of the few colleges in Canada to offer this niche training, traditionally taught in master’s level studies.

Designed for individuals who have completed a diploma in Social Service Work, Social Service Work – Gerontology, or Community Work, students will research and provide solutions to real-world issues brought forward by our community partners.
This program is built to address the needs of human service organizations, who require workers with critical thinking, research and leadership abilities.
