Sheridan’s SIRT partners with the Italian Contemporary Film Festival for their Industry Day 2021
Sheridan’s Research and Training Centre (SIRT) will host the 2021 Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) at its Virtual Production Innovation Hub at Pinewood Toronto Studios on November 30 and December 1, 2021. The two-day event will be presented in a hybrid format, providing virtual and in-person components, and will bring together some of the most important stakeholders in the Canadian and Italian film industries.
The 2021 ICFF Industry Day theme is Scouting the Film Industry New Landscape and will feature panels and presentations from Canadian and Italian industry professionals including Tom Donahue, Director of Dean Martin: King of Cool; Iginio Straffi, CEO and Founder of Rainbow Studio; and Producers from the upcoming film Across the River and Into the Trees.
SIRT Virtual Production Lead Spencer Idenouye will be moderating the keynote panel Virtual Production and the Transformation of the Industry. Attendees will learn about Virtual Production and see a live set, listen to industry leaders discuss when to use Virtual Production and why, and get an international perspective on the growth of Virtual Production. They will also experience a virtual tour of SIRT’s Virtual Production Innovation Hub and learn about how this innovative technology contributed to industry growth.
Other panels to be presented include International Animation, Co-Production Italy-Canada, and The New Frontiers of Public Screenings. The Animation presentation includes global players who will investigate how animation has changed during COVID-19, taking a deep dive into the future of this multi-billion-dollar industry that captivates youth and adults alike.
The 2021 ICFF’s Industry Day will explore and expand on four different topics connected to its theme:
- Italian Canadian Co-Productions
- The New Frontiers of Public Screenings
- Challenges of Modern Animation and the Comeback of 3D Films
- Real Time Virtual Productions
