Dr. Michael Allcott recently joined Sheridan as the Dean, International.  Dr. Allcott has been an international educator for more than thirty years, and has served in leadership roles at universities in Canada and the United States.  Most recently, he was Director of the International Program at Trent University, where he is credited with instilling the value of friendship across cultures in all aspects of the learning community.

“At a time when Sheridan has seen dynamic growth in the number of international students enrolling here, Dr. Allcott’s diverse leadership experience will help to ensure sustainability, engage others in developing innovative and creative programming, and bring renewed strategic focus to our internationalization efforts,” says Ian Marley, Vice President of Enrolment Management and Administrative Services.

Dr. Allcott’s previous positions include Head of Champlain College and Associate Registrar at Trent, and Associate Director of the International Centre at the University of Utah, where he designed and taught “Writing in the Global University” in the Honors Program.  Dr. Allcott has also taught at the University of Buffalo (SUNY), where he completed his PhD.

“I am honoured to serve in this leadership role at Sheridan, and to join such a dynamic group of colleagues,” says Dr. Allcott.  “Sheridan’s global reputation contributes to Canada’s reputation as an innovative, welcoming and meaningful destination for internationally mobile students.  I look forward to building holistic internationalization; providing services and developing programming to value and encourage international connections, experiences and capacities for all members of our learning community.”
