Sheridan alumni get set for animation honours at Annie Awards

Alumni from Sheridan College’s renowned animation and film programs are among the nominees for  the animation industry’s top prizes this weekend at the 44th annual Annie Awards. The International Animated Film Society-Hollywood will announce the winners at a gala in Los Angeles, California.

“We are very proud to celebrate our alumni’s work. Achievements like these confirm Sheridan’s reputation for producing strong, talented animation graduates,” says Angela Stukator, Associate Dean of Animation and Game Design at Sheridan. “The largest studios in our industry, including Disney and Pixar, continue to seek out our graduates for their skill, knowledge and passion to create high-quality animated films.”

Sheridan alumni nominated this year are:

Piper, a short film directed by alumnus Alan Barillaro (Animation, 1996) is nominated for best animated short subject.

Trevor Dalmer, (Bachelor of Animation, 2009) Outstanding Achievement, production design in an animated feature production, Kubo and the Two Strings.

Trevor Jimenez, (Bachelor of Animation, 2007), for his work in Finding Dory. Jimenez is nominated in the Outstanding Achievement, Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production category.

 Normand Lemay, (Bachelor of Animation, 2004), Outstanding Achievement, Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production in Moana.

Cedric Lo, (Bachelor of Animation, 2009), Outstanding Achievement, Character Animation in a Live Action Production for Captain America Civil War.

Mike Marcuzzi (Media Arts, 2004), Outstanding Achievement, Animated Effects in a Live Action Production for Dr. Strange.

Steve Rawlins, (Computer Animation, 1997) Outstanding Achievement, Character Animation in a Live Action Production for Captain America Civil War.

Sheridan’s alumni also contributed to other films nominated in the best animated feature category, including Finding Dory, Moana, Kung Fu Panda 3 and Zootopia. Sheridan’s animation program includes the Bachelor of Animation and Bachelor of Game Design, as well as post-graduate certificates in computer animation and visual effects.
