Unlocking Opportunity, Clarity and Support: Meet Our Recruitment Team
by Jon Kuiperij – Oct 13, 2026 Choosing where and how to pursue postsecondary education is one of the most important decisions a person will make. Many times, that decision is driven by a pivotal conversation that defines opportunities, clarifies options and provides support every step of the way.
"I like to say that everyone is a recruiter. Behind many of the new students joining Sheridan's community each year is a conversation that helped them take their next step with confidence, whether that conversation is with our staff, students or faculty," says Ryan Teeter, Sheridan's Manager of National Student Recruitment.
At the fore of this meaningful work is Sheridan's Student Recruitment team, often the first touchpoint in a student's journey to Sheridan. "We have the unique privilege of connecting with individuals from all walks of life, providing the personalized guidance, reassurance and confidence they seek as they explore what's next," Teeter says. "Whether it's through events and presentations, one-on-one conversations or the many partnerships and relationships that extend our reach across schools, communities and departments, our goal remains the same: to help people find the path that's right for them."
As our recruiters were ramping up for a busy fall that includes school visits, community events and Sheridan's Open House, we asked them about the meaningful work they do, why they love doing it, what they love most about Sheridan, and more.
Ben Le
As Sheridan's Newcomer and Community Adviser, Ben helps international students and recent immigrants adapt to Canadian education. His work is informed by personal experiences as an immigrant who successfully blended into the Canadian environment by gaining a domestic credential and work experience.
Heather Fawcett
Heather has worked at Sheridan for more than two decades, beginning as a student success officer before transitioning to recruitment. She highlights Sheridan's faculty and breadth of programming as key reasons to consider becoming a Bruin.
Karl Renn
Karl understands the different learning experiences of university and college, having excelled academically in both systems. He brings that understanding to his role as a Student Recruitment and Engagement coordinator, helping students make informed decisions.
Larry Da Cunha
As an Outreach Student Recruitment Adviser, Larry strongly recommends work experience as a great way to learn new things while funding your education. He discovered his passion for higher education through a Work Study position he held as a college student.
Michelle McLaren
Before becoming a Student Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator, Michelle spent nearly 10 years working in various roles within Sheridan's Continuing and Professional Studies. She also has a Psychology degree that helps her connect with students at a personal level and find the pathways that are best suited for them.
