Message from the Program Coordinator
Sheridan's Corporate Communications Program is dedicated to graduate success. Each year our students consistently win awards In the student category of the Canadian Public Relations Society Pinnacle Awards.
As well, the program's graduate hiring rate averages around 90%. For the last four years, with the program's training and networking opportunities, nearly every graduate landed full-time permanent or contract employment in the corporate communications field within six months of graduation.
Sheridan's Corporate Communications Graduate Certificate Program delivers a balance of theoretical and practical experiences. Its primary focus is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to excel in communications.
The core areas of skill development are:
- Writing in journalistic style
- Creating strategic planning documents (communications, fundraising, media and special events plans)
- Managing stakeholder relations (media, employees, target audiences, general public).
In addition to classroom experiences, corporate communications students work with a variety of actual clients to conduct communications research projects, create communications plans, develop fundraising plans and organize special events. All students in the program are encouraged to build on their Sheridan experience by participating in community and industry opportunities including their field placement.
Corporate Communications is a dynamic field with a variety of challenging and interesting career paths including: media relations, special events planning, PR account management, fundraising and internal communications.
We hope that you choose Sheridan for your corporate communications training!
Sincerely,
Andrew Coxhead, C.D., B.A., MBA
