Hassan Al-Ghareib’s passion for marketing began early. By the time he reached Sheridan, the Oakville native had already run both a disc jockey and house painting business.
With his natural marketing savvy and engaging personality, Hassan is now building a bright future at Samsung Canada where he is a Field Marketing Representative (Digital Appliances).
Choosing where to further his education following high school was an easy decision, says Hassan. The first-rate reputation of Sheridan’s business faculty was an important factor, but “the fact that my dad attended Sheridan in 1993 and has many positive comments about the quality of its instructors really sealed the deal. I was pleased to learn he was absolutely right.”
Hassan embraced college life with gusto, excelling in his studies, most notably as part of Sheridan’s Gold medal winning Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition team in 2007. He was Valedictorian for the Faculty of Business’ 2008 graduating class.
Graduation did not end Hassan’s connection to Sheridan. In 2008, he took on the role of Marketing and Communications Manager for the Sheridan Student Union. Two years later, as Marketing Specialist at Samsung, Hassan distinguished himself quickly, establishing an online how-to video service for Samsung products and an e-store for Samsung parts and accessories. During this time, Hassan also earned his Bachelor of Commerce, Business Management - Marketing from Ryerson University.
Along the way, Hassan has learned the importance of staying on top of change. “The two major trends that I have recognized are based around connectivity. “Companies worldwide are developing ways to make our lives easier and more convenient in hopes of creating more of that precious resource: time. The convergence of all the technologies that keep us connected is increasing each day.”
Success will come to those who not only adapt to change but make the right personal choices along the way, says Hassan who advises new grads to “make decisions about money with your head, about work with your heart, and about people with your gut. But, above all, he adds, “Have a dream and picture yourself living it…you will get there!”
