Ontario Health Insurance Number (HIN)

All individuals are responsible for having their own Health Insurance Number. You must present your current Health Insurance Card at each appointment. If you have a photo health card ensure that it has not expired prior to visiting Health Services. Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)

Out of Province Health Cards

The Health Centre accepts all out of province Health Cards.

International Students – Student Guard Insurance

At Sheridan, health insurance is mandatory for International Students. The cost of this insurance is covered through your student fees. For more information on Student Guard Insurance contact the International Students Office or Student Guard.

Student Medical Insurance Plan (SIP)

All full-time and daytime part-time fee paying Sheridan College students are automatically enrolled in a health insurance plan when they register at Sheridan.

Benefits include:
  • Reimbursement of up to 80% on most prescription drugs (coverage is subject to a maximum payment of $1,000.00 per year) 
  • Vaccinations: 100%, up to $150 per policy year 
  • Health practitioners (physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists etc.): $20 per visit, $400 per category of practitioner per policy year. Visits to registered practitioners require a referral by an MD. 
  • Travel Health Coverage 
  • Vision Coverage: Up to $275 in vision coverage 
  • Dental Coverage: Up to $750 in dental coverage 
  • Coverage for accidental injuries, including dental accidents 
  • Ambulance expense reimbursement 
  • Full Scheduled Benefits

Insurance for Students on Work Placements

Students who are required to complete a work placement as a program requirement receive insurance coverage while on placement through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) or ACE INA if their employer does not participate in WSIB. Check with your program coordinator to confirm which policy applies to you.

Prior to placement, all students are to complete the Colleges and Universities Ministry of Training Work/Education (MTCU) Placement Agreement Form and return to the coordinator/faculty designate who is responsible for your placement.
