Applying for Advanced Standing
General Education
APPLYING FOR ADVANCED STANDING:
Students who have successfully completed a General Education course at Sheridan may be eligible for a transfer credit. Transfer credit requests must go to the Office of the Registrar.
Students who have successfully completed a General Education course(s) at another accredited college/university may be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing. All General Education Advanced Standing applications must go through the General Education Coordinator.
Step 1 - Obtain an Advanced Standing Application
Students can obtain an Advanced Standing Application Form at the Office of the Registrar, The Student Advisement Centre, or The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Access Office.
Step 2 - Fill out the form
- Completely fill in the form by providing all necessary information. Be sure to include name, student ID number, and the name of your current program.
- Identify the course you successfully completed (minimum C grade) at a previous institution.
- Courses considered for Advanced Standing must have been completed within 5 years prior to the request, except with the permission of the Dean or designate of the respective school.
Step 3 - Attach Supporting Documentation
- Original, official transcript indicating course and grade from the other educational institution and
- A detailed course outline
Step 4 - Submit the form
- Submit the application form to the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Access, Davis (Room B217), HMC (Room A407), or Trafalgar Road (Room C227)
