  • To offer opportunities for students to experience design environments beyond the classroom through trips to other cities abroad.

Mobile Computing

The Interior Design Program was first in Ontario to be "mobile", where all students’ purchase a laptop computer loaded with all necessary software. The mobile initiative incorporates web technology as a mode of delivery offering both students and faculty 24-hour "plug-in" access to software, lecture materials, classroom discussion and peer/professor communication. Lectures, assignments and in some cases critiques are conducted via the Internet. Not only does this mode of delivery offer mobility, flexibility and full access but it also exposes students to a new way of learning, communicating and designing that reflects the wired, digital and computerized practice of Interior Design and business at large in the 21st century. Featuring full comprehensive computer software training, the development of project management and design skills for a variety of building types, an awareness of professional business practice, and academic courses in every semester. Field trips and a co-op placement give students a working knowledge of the industry prior to graduation.
