Bruce Cochrane - Head of Ceramics

Bruce Cochrane is a master potter whose work has been exhibited in more than 200 exhibitions and is represented in collections including the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art, Toronto; the Museum of Civilization, Ottawa; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and the Jendezchen Ceramic Institute, China. His work has been published in books such as "Functional Pottery", by Robin Hopper, and magazines including "Ceramics Monthly" and "Ceramic Arts and Perception". The winner of many prizes and awards, Bruce is a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, and was voted Mississauga Artist of the Year in 2004. He has taught at Sheridan since 1978, and led numerous workshops at major college programs in Canada and the United States. He lives and maintains a studio in Mississauga. Bruce holds an MFA from Alfred University and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Peter Fleming - Head of Furniture
Dipl (Sheridan Inst), Dipl (Humber Coll)



Peter Fleming's furniture work, primarily in wood with elements of stone, glass and cast metal has been exhibited internationally and published in magazines including "Art and Antiques Magazine" and "Fine Woodworking". His pieces reside in several public and private collections including the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the City of Toronto. Peter has won numerous awards and was named the recipient of the Prix Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in the Crafts in 2000. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wood Studio, a non-profit woodworking co-operative in Toronto; writes and lectures on a number of topics; and has been a faculty member at Sheridan since 1989. Peter is a graduate of both Sheridan and Humber Colleges, and is currently completing his MA at York University.

Rachel MacHenry - Head of Textiles
MA (Central St Martins College of Art & Design)



Rachel MacHenry holds an MA in Textiles from Central Saint Martin's College of Art and Design, London, England. Her professional experience spans both small batch studio production and design for commercial scale production. Since launching her line of distinctive knitted hats in 1991, she has worked as a designer for ecological and fair trade textile production with artisan’s cooperatives in Asia, incorporating local dye, stitch and weaving techniques, as well as an interest in re-use of materials. She has been active as an exhibitions curator, including "Spin Cycle" and "On Growth and Form" for the Textile Museum of Canada, and done freelance design work for an international agency. Her textiles have been exhibited internationally and are included in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in England. Her eponymous line is available in the US, Europe and Japan.

Koen Vanderstukken - Head of Glass

Koen Vanderstukken is a renowned European glass sculptor and educator whose work has been exhibited in major centres around the world, from Amsterdam, Paris and Venice to New York, Chicago and Montreal. He has been running his own studio in Niel, Belgium since 1990 and his glass can be found in  many museum and private collections, as well as significant public commissions. Koen has taught at the State Institute of Art Crafts in Mechelen, Belgium for 10 years and has offered workshops and master classes in Europe and North America.
