The Textiles Studio
Since 1968, the Textiles Studio at Sheridan College has been educating professional textile artists and designers. Our graduates have established themselves at the forefront of the studio crafts in Canada as artists, designers, producers, educators, curators, and entrepreneurs.

The Studio's three-year program is rooted in a rich and diverse experience of the textile medium. A broad range of printing and dyeing techniques at the core of the curriculum are supported by excellent studio facilities that feature: two 10-metre professional print tables, a dye lab, industrial standard dye equipment, a photo screen shooting room, and a large wash down area. Felt-making, heat-setting, resist dye techniques, photo image transfers, three-dimensional construction, surface embellishment techniques and mixed media and digital design round out the studio experience, encouraging the student to develop innovative work that employs a variety of textile techniques and approaches.
As a benefit of Sheridan's high profile Computer Animation and New Media programs, Textiles students have access to superior equipment and labs for their courses in digital design. The Studio program is further enhanced by workshops and lectures given by a variety of visiting artists and designers, as well as relevant field

trips, work placements, involvement in competitions and collaborative projects with industry and art/design professionals.
Throughout their studies, students are encouraged to explore the possibilities inherent in materials and to experiment, observe and respond through their textile work. After leaving the program, graduates may choose to focus their practice on one-off or commissioned work, small batch production, creating textiles for theatre and film or designing for industry.
