The Glass Studio
The glass studio at Sheridan is one of the oldest and largest educational glass programs in North America. Since 1970, the studio and its faculty have been dedicated to the development of glass art. The program is a leader in glass education.
The glass studio curriculum gives students a steady menu of intensive instruction combined with hands-on practice and critical discussion. Emphasis is placed on the exploration of material and process and the integrated development of technical and conceptual skills, as well as the nurturing a personal aesthetic.
Over twenty courses in blowing, casting, engraving, kiln working and flameworking are enhanced by frequent field trips to conferences, museums, galleries and studios, as well as workshops and lectures by visiting artists. All faculty members are practicing glass artists working in a wide variety of media.
Alumni and students of the Glass Studio at Sheridan College are noted internationally for their creativity, design and technical skill. Students regularly win numerous awards at Glass Art Society Conferences across North America, and graduates have gone on to establish scores of studios and glass-related enterprises and educational programs across Canada.
