The Communication, Culture and Information Technology (CCIT) program prepares students for the careers of the future. An innovative educational experience offered nowhere else, this joint program of Sheridan and the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) combines academic courses in the arts and sciences with applied courses in computing, visualization, digital media, and design.
Flexible and forward-thinking, CCIT is ideal for self-directed students who think independently. And it cultivates a rare combination of skills that employers crave: adaptability, technological savvy, and an ability to shatter boundaries.
Build a Personalized Portfolio
Within the CCIT major, you’ll choose one of two interdisciplinary specialties:
- Digital Enterprise Management (business-oriented emphasis)
- Visual Culture and Communication (artistic emphasis)
Attending courses at Sheridan and UTM concurrently, you’ll combine classroom learning with hands-on, project-based assignments. You’ll learn to engage audiences across multiple media, gaining direct experience in areas such as:
- E-commerce
- Virtual communities
- Digital multimedia
- Gaming
- Interactive storytelling
- Web design
- Cross-cultural studies
The program varies from student to student. But everyone graduates with a personalized portfolio of concrete achievements that might include websites, short films, advertisements, product design concepts, social activism campaigns, and more. It’s largely up to you.
Communication, Culture and Information Technology CCIT classes are held at Sheridan's Trafalgar Road Campus, Oakville, Ontario, and at the University of Toronto Mississauga.
Career possibilities are truly endless for graduates of this extraordinarily flexible program. CCIT lies at the intersection of culture, technology, and communication ? the same point of convergence that is driving the 21st century economy. Graduates often go on to become leaders and agents of change. With CCIT as a foundation, you can plan a career in:
- Entrepreneurship
- New media
- E-commerce
- Web development
- Research and policy making
- Advertising
- Public relations
- Social science research
