Do’s and Don’ts
Health and Safety Do's and Don'ts at Sheridan
The following rules apply to all members of the Sheridan Community: employees, students and contractors.
DO!
- Do think about health and safety in all your activities
- Do report hazards to your supervisor, instructor or OH&S Services
- Do clean up after yourself in the classrooms and studios
- Do learn about your rights and responsibilities under the OH&S Act
- Do fill out an Incident Report for all accidents or incidents
- Do wear personal protective equipment where required
- Do read the MSDS for chemicals you use before you use the chemical and take the precautions required
- Do leave the building immediately when you hear the fire alarm
- Do ask if you need more information about OH&S before you proceed
DON'T
- Don't use spray fixatives, aerosols or flammables except in a designated spray booth or outside the buildings
- Don't use oil based paints in any Sheridan buildings
- Don't bring chemicals on campus without a Material Safety Data Sheet
- Don't use open flames or candles on campus without permission of OH&S Services
- Don't leave compressed gas cylinders unsecured
- Don't pour chemicals down the drain or place hazardous materials in the regular garbage
- Don't smoke in Sheridan Buildings
- Don't hesitate to ask if you are unsure of an OH&S concern
