Occupational Health and Safety
Sheridan College is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all employees, students, and visitors. The Occupational Health and Safety Service supports members of the Sheridan community in the execution of their duties and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
Under the OHSA, providing a healthy and safe work environment is the responsibility of management; from the President through to the supervisors. Workers are responsible for following the internal rules about health and safety and complying with the requirements of the OHSA and reporting hazards to their supervisors. The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) is responsible for inspecting the workplace, for making recommendations to the employer about OH&S and discussing OH&S concerns.
