New! 2019 Exploration Competition of the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) 

The 2019 Exploration Competition of the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) will launch on July 3. New this year, researchers at all career stages are invited to apply to the program.

The NFRF Exploration fund aims to generate opportunities for Canada to build strength in high-risk, high-reward and interdisciplinary research. It seeks to inspire highly innovative projects that defy current research paradigms, propose a unique scientific direction, bring disciplines together beyond the traditional disciplinary approaches, and/or use different perspectives to solve existing problems. Exploration grant projects must be innovative in nature and use unconventional approaches or ideas to achieve high-risk and high-reward interdisciplinary research. 

This competition has three stages:
Notification of Intent to Apply (NOI) with a deadline of August 7, 2019
Letter of Intent to Apply (LOI) with a deadline of September 4, 2019
Full Application with a deadline of December 10, 2019

NFRF will be hosting webinars for applicants and research administrators at each stage. Please confirm your interest to so that group sessions can be organized at the Trafalgar Campus.
The NOI stage webinars will be held (all times are eastern):
July 9               1 pm – 3 pm                     English
July 17             10 am – 12 pm                 English
Webinars will be recorded and presentations available following the session. 

Further information about the program will be available on the NFRF website July 3, after which the Sheridan Research office will send out an internal Call for Expressions of Interest.
