Theatre Sheridan presents a gala evening featuring Chicago

Theatre Sheridan celebrates 40 years of outstanding performances with special presentation of "Chicago"

In celebration of 40 years of outstanding music theatre education, Theatre Sheridan at Sheridan College is hosting a gala evening on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Oakville Campus.

The gala event features Theatre Sheridan’s production of Chicago, book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, as the entertainment for the evening, featuring third year students from the renowned music theatre performance program and directed by Marica Kash.

Tickets are $150 each or a table of four is $500 (a partial tax receipt will be issued). Seats can be reserved by calling the Theatre Sheridan Box Office at 905-815-4049.

The night will also feature performances from students in other years of study, along with a cabaret performance from the 2012 Canadian Music Theatre Project workshopped original play, Come From Away, book, music and lyrics by David Hein and Irene Sankoff. Guests will enjoy a night of cocktails in a setting transformed into a Chicago-style speakeasy of the Roaring Twenties, along with the talents of Sheridan’s extraordinary students.

“It’s a night to celebrate the phenomenal impact Sheridan has had on the theatre industry,” says Jeff Zabudsky, Sheridan President and CEO. “Our graduates bring to life the work of renowned composers and much-loved characters in theatres around the world including Broadway, London’s West End and the Stratford and Shaw Festivals. And it all begins here with the unparalleled training of Theatre Sheridan.”

Long recognized for excellence in music theatre performance and technical theatre production, Sheridan College offers an innovative learning environment celebrated for academic excellence, applied research and creativity. A highlight of the program is the opportunity for students to perform in Theatre Sheridan productions which stages six musicals a year in Macdonald Heaslip Hall and the Studio Theatre, while students from the Technical Production for Theatre and Live Events create spectacular sets worthy of Broadway.
