Sheridan Students Rate Among the Best at the Pinnacle Awards

The Canadian Public Relations Society’s Hamilton Chapter celebrated the best in public relations and communications at the Pinnacle Awards on April 21. Among the winners were a team of two Corporate Communications students from Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, who were presented with the Student Project Award.

Von Jeppesen and Matthew J. Dudman received the award for their promotional work for the 3S’s Restaurant, located in downtown Oakville. Jeppeson and Dudman developed a comprehensive communications plan for this new establishment, which included organizing a media launch event.

Jeppesen earned diplomas in both the Journalism and Investigation – Public and Private programs at Sheridan before enrolling in Corporate Communications. His partner, Matthew Dudman, came to Sheridan with several years of communications and marketing experience already to his credit. He previously completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Toronto, and a digital communications certificate at Sheridan.

The Student Project Award is open to any CPRS member who is a full- or part-time student enrolled in a public relations program at a college or university. The Pinnacle Awards program recognizes excellence by public relations practitioners in southwestern Ontario.

Jeppesen and Dudman will graduate this spring from Sheridan’s Corporate Communications program. A one-year, post-graduate certificate program, it provides theoretical and hands-on training to prepare graduates for a variety of roles within the communications profession. This is the fourth consecutive year in which Corporate Communications students have won recognition at the CPRS Hamilton Chapter’s Pinnacle Awards.
