Sheridan students, faculty team up for Terry Fox Run

A team of performing arts students and faculty hope to glean inspiration for an upcoming production at Theatre Sheridan by taking part in Oakville’s Terry Fox Run this Sunday, September 15. Marathon of Hope, a new musical by Sheridan alumnus John Connolly, makes its debut in Sheridan’s Macdonald-Heaslip Hall from November 27 – December 8. The show is part of Sheridan’s Canadian Music Theatre Project, Canada’s first incubator for the development of new musical theatre works.

Connolly, who graduated from Sheridan in 2005, first had the idea for a musical about Terry Fox in September, 2004 – just before the annual run was to take place. In developing the show, he worked closely with the Fox family to ensure that his vision would be true to Terry’s spirit and accomplishments.

The Sheridan team has sent a fundraising goal of $2,000 to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. In addition, all proceeds from the staging of Marathon of Hope will support cancer research. For more information, visit theatre.sheridancollege.ca or call 905-815-4049.
