Sheridan alumni win Canadian Cinema Editors awards

June 14, 2016

Four Sheridan graduates have received 2016 awards from the Canadian Cinema Editors (CCE). The winners were announced at a ceremony in Toronto on June 2, 2016.

Anna Bigos, a 2004 alumna of Sheridan’s Media Arts program; and Steve Taylor, who graduated from the Advanced Television and Film program in 2004, received the award for Best Editing in Reality/Competition for The Amazing Race Canada: I Said Straight, You Gorilla.

Eric Bos, a 2015 graduate of Sheridan’s Media Arts program, was recognized with the Student Merit Award for two films, House of Glory and Lockwood, which he completed during his final year of study Sheridan. This is not the first accolade for House of Glory. Fellow 2015 Media Arts graduate, Diego Guijarro Alvarez, won the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award for the film earlier this year.

“I was fortunate during my time in Media Arts to be able to work with many talented people that drove my ambition,” said Bos. “The collaboration furthered the development of my skills, and the recognition from the CCE for my work is motivation to continue pushing my skills forward.”

Another Media Arts alumnus, Lee Maund, received the CCE award for Best Editing in Animation for Trucktown: Trucktown Run.  Maund, who graduated in 1989, shared the award with colleagues from Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana, which produces the winning animated preschool program.

“An incredibly talented, creative team worked on Trucktown. As such, the award goes to each one of them,” said Maund.

The winners are among 13 Sheridan alumni who were nominated for CCE awards this year. The CCE is a non-profit organization with the goal of bettering the art and science of picture editing in all media.
