Canada’s largest Arts School opens its doors to the public
For Immediate Release: April 27, 2010Oakville, Ontario
Sheridan’s annual Arts Open House and Craft Sale takes place on Saturday, May 1 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Oakville Campus, located at 1430 Trafalgar Road. Admission and parking are free.
Canada’s largest art school, Sheridan is the launching pad for artists of every stripe. From Hollywood animators to ‘triple threat’ performers to world-renowned artisans in glass, ceramics, furniture and textiles, all have honed their craft and developed their talent here in Oakville.
The work of Sheridan’s latest crop of artistic talent will be on full display during the Open House, with displays and demonstrations from almost every arts program offered at the college. Visitors will have the opportunity to have their caricature drawn – for free – by students in the animation program, to help paint a wall mural, and to see demonstrations of glass-blowing and textile printing.
Visitors can enter their name in a draw to win a unique glass art piece by Thomas Cudsmore (see photo on home page). They can also purchase hand-crafted works of glass and ceramics in the Craft Sale, which will feature over thirty alumni and student vendors.
Other highlights of the day will include the screening of student films from the animation, media arts and advanced television and film programs, and displays from the photography, art and art history, interior design, and crafts and design programs.
