Trafalgar Wildflower Planting on June 9 - Volunteers are Needed

Time 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location Trafalgar - Outside Athletic Centre, 1430 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, Ontario, L6H 2L1

 Sheridan Wildflower Garden

Did you know that 90% of all wild flowering plants depend on pollination? Did you know that one in three bites of food we eat relies on bees for pollination? Sadly, many of our pollinator species in Canada are declining at an alarming rate.  We can help save the bees and butterflies by creating a natural habitat and food sources for them right here at the Trafalgar Campus.

Come out on June 9th to help enhance our Wildflower Garden that we started in 2016! Our volunteers will help us plant perennial native wildflowers and grasses. The new plants will attract more pollinators and prevent the invasive Buckthorn plant from returning to the site.

We as humans rely on pollinators to survive, as almost everything we eat is thanks to them. Let’s do what we can to help the species, which in turn, is helping ourselves for our future.

The Mission Zero team along with the support of the Oakville Green Conservation Association, and Sheridan’s Centre for Indigenous Learning and Support, expect to have a fun day while increasing the biodiversity of our campus. A pizza lunch will be provided. Hope to see you there!
