Safe to Share | A community forum to discuss community safety and the new Peel Police Chief

Time 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Location Davis - Student Residence Hall, 7899 McLaughlin Road, Brampton

Students in Sheridan’s Community Worker program have organized Safe to Share, a townhall meeting taking place on Thursday April 4, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speaker Tamika Malcolm, from the Boys and Girls Club, will share her insights on policing in Peel. Taking place at the Davis Campus, the event will feature an open discussion on policing and what qualities the Region’s next police chief should embody. This event is free and open to the public. The goal is to provide a safe environment for all opinions to be safely heard, discussed and reflected upon, without judgement or prejudice. This will be an all-inclusive discussion to voice concerns, unique perspectives and suggestions from diverse community groups.

Feedback from the forum will be made available to the community. Community Worker students have submitted requests for deputations at the Peel Police Services Board Meeting to be held on April 12, 2019. We hope to determine guidelines, programs and police practices that should be eliminated, refined, and/or implemented.

Media are welcome and encouraged to attend!
