Collection development refers to the process of building and maintaining the library’s entire collection in print, audiovisual and electronic formats. It includes the formulation of policy and procedures, coordination of activities, budget formulation and allocation, needs assessment, collection evaluation, selection, resource sharing and weeding.
All users with overdue items will be sent notices to their Sheridan email account alerting them to outstanding fines. Fines are calculated for each day the library is open. Please note that due dates may fall on a Saturday or Sunday. Users must pay fees in order to pay registration fees for future terms or to receive their diploma, degree or certificate from the College.
The consumption of snack food and covered beverages is allowed in both the Library and main room of the Learning Commons. Covered beverages are permitted in the group study rooms. Food is not allowed in the study rooms.
The Borrower Services Policy is intended to clearly define eligible borrowers and their borrowing privileges. This policy covers areas such as library cards, borrower responsibilities, loan periods, renewals, borrowing between semesters and more.
Sheridan Library Services provides space, materials, and assistance for students, faculty and staff to pursue their studies in a positive and productive environment. For those requiring quiet study space, there are quiet spaces available at Davis (3rd floor of the Commons), Trafalgar and HMC. Please follow our guidelines.
The Reference Services Policy is intended to provide Sheridan library users with clarification regarding the goals and delivery of reference/research services. This policy was developed in consultation with the ACRL Standards for Libraries in Higher Education.
A college staff, faculty or student may borrow in person from any Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology Library as long as certain provisions are met.
