mobile navigation An academic strike continues to be in effect at all Ontario Colleges, including Sheridan,  however we are hopeful that the back-to-work legislation will be passed and finalized by Sunday, November 19. Should the legislation pass by November 19, we anticipate welcoming our faculty back to Sheridan on Monday, November 20 to prepare for students to return to classes on Tuesday, November 21. What to Expect on Your First Day

You may be both excited and nervous about starting classes at Sheridan – and this is to be expected. To ease some uncertainty about what will happen on your first day, we've outlined some things that you can expect as well as some tasks that you can complete to prepare yourself for your first day of classes.

How to Prepare Before Leaving Home:

  • Check your Sheridan email for important information from Sheridan College.
  • Check your timetable before leaving home on myStudentCentre (your timetable is subject to change).
  • Arrive early to give yourself lots of time to find your classes and your way around campus. Worried about getting lost? Download the Sheridan Mobile App.
  • Figure out your method of transportation - check your transit options, walk your route or purchase a parking pass.
  • Be prepared for class with your timetable, laptop (mobile programs) and Sheridan onecard.

What to Expect on your First Day:

  • On your first day of classes you'll meet your teacher and classmates. You'll receive a course outline, which lists upcoming assignments, readings, required materials, etc.
  • There will be lots of activity, and many students and staff around. It's an exciting and busy time!
  • If you get lost or need help, look for people wearing bright blue t-shirts – they'll help and/or direct you where you need to go.
  • If you miss any of your classes, connect with your teacher and log in to SLATE to review your course outline.
  • Apply for the Sheridan Tuition Set-Aside and/or other Needs-based Bursaries (if eligible) via myStudent Centre under the Finance section.

If you have any questions, visit the Student Services Centre (Trafalgar – Room B104; Davis – Room B230; HMC – A247). We're here to help you. We wish you a successful first day!
