World's Largest Lipdup puts Design Grads on the Map

September 11, 2012

Less than a year after opening their design agency, Tom Collver and Kyle Dutka have emerged as award-winning community leaders who have gained national attention.

They are co-founders of Stratta Creative, which conceived and produced the Lindsay LipDub, the world’s largest and Canada’s first city lip dub. Filmed in one continuous shot on May 31, 2012 with over 9,300 people in attendance, Lindsay Lipdub sparked unprecedented community spirit and nationwide attention (from Rick Mercer, George Stroumbolopolous, Craig Kielberger, and more). One in seven Lindsay residents participated in LipDub. A per capital comparison would have to see 250,000 Torontonians taking part.

Lindsay LipDub was followed by the Concert for Change (also organized by Stratta) featuring Juno Award-winning band, Hedley. The fundraising concert served to inspire young people to contribute to their community.

“We used this event as a way to bring our community together, and together any community, big or small, can find a way to achieve the incredible,” says Tom, who graduated in 2009 from the joint Sheridan/York University Bachelor of Design (Honours) program. He shared Lindsay’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award this past spring with fellow alumnus, Kyle (Bachelor of Design [Honours] 2011).

On June 16, Lindsay LipDub was premiered at a fundraising gala in Lindsay attended by 250 people. Both the Concert for Change and the gala supported the charities Free the Children and Me to We.

“It shows what can be done when people come together in the spirit of positivity and creativity,” says Kyle.
