The big question: grad stages proposal at Sheridan

August 12, 2015

The main entrance sign at Sheridan’s Hazel McCallion campus (HMC) displayed an unusual message early last month as Evan Brown proposed to fellow grad Carly Cuisia.

It seemed natural to pop the question at the place they met, says Evan. “If it weren’t for Sheridan and that classroom, our lives wouldn’t be the same. I owe a great deal of our happiness to the HMC campus.” They both graduated from the Business Administration-Marketing program in 2013.

“Carly and I met three years ago in a Global Marketing class. I sat next to her and there was an instant connection,” says Evan. They spent the semester as friends, working on a project together before parting ways. A few months later, they reconnected in Evan’s home town of Collingwood “for our first real date and the rest is history.”

He contacted Sheridan to arrange to have the special message displayed on the Mississauga campus sign on July 4. Evan’s sister brought Carly to the campus on the way to a pre-planned visit to the Square One mall nearby. “My sister drove into the roundabout and asked, ‘What’s that sign say?’ Carly noticed and came running from the car. She said yes! It’s a moment we will never forget. Where it all started is where it all came together.”

The couple plans to settle in Mississauga where Carly will take over the JC Dance Troupe studio she has been managing. Evan recently landed a digital marketing position at Toronto automotive advertising agency, Dashboard.
