Sheridan graduates and students receive 11 Annie Award nominations

December 09, 2015

Ten Sheridan alumni have been nominated for 2016 Annie Awards recognizing the year’s top achievements in the field of animation. The Annies are considered the animation industry’s top honour.

Sheridan is proud to report that four of the 10 nominees graduated from Sheridan’s Bachelor of Animation program within the past five years, further strengthening the program’s ongoing reputation for excellence.

Students in their third year of Sheridan’s Bachelor of Animation program were also nominated in the Best Student Film category.

During the Creative Talent Network (CTN) Expo in Los Angeles last month, Sheridan connected with many of the grads who are behind these Annie-nominated productions and countless other well-recognized animation projects.

As key players in the animation industry, Sheridan alumni have a particularly strong presence at the CTN Expo, said Angela Stukator, Associate Dean for Sheridan’s Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design. “We continue to be impressed by the number of alumni who play leading roles at the Expo, conducting workshops, reviewing portfolios, exhibiting their work and being interviewed by top studios.”

Given the number of recent grads on the 2016 Annie nomination list, Sheridan animation will continue to be a driving force in the industry over the coming years.
