Grads Gather at Old Stomping Ground

October 27, 2010

Over 70 grads experienced déjà vu recently at Monaghan’s Pub, the familiar stomping ground for countless Trafalgar Campus students. Alumni from the past decade gathered on October 14 to catch up with old and new friends at the pub located across from the Campus.

Hosted by the School of Animation, Arts and Design Alumni Chapter, the event featured some great draw prizes, thanks to grads David Mader (Community Worker ’04) and Michelle Cinapri (Business-Marketing ’05). Alumni also had a chance to play Sheridan’s 3D game which was introduced at the Vancouver Olympics earlier this year. It is the first ever real-time auto-stereoscopic 3D game that does not require 3D glasses.

Among the special guests of the evening was Paul Douglas of TD Insurance Meloche Monnex who presented $6,000 in scholarship funds to Sheridan Student Union President Crystal Bennett and Child of Alumni Scholarship recipient Ella Doidge. Crystal (Business - Marketing '10)  received the 2010 Student Leadership Excellence Award from the Association of Canadian Community Colleges. Ella is a second year Visual Merchandising student whose mother Pamela Sinclair graduated from the Interpretive Illustration program in '79.

Sheridan President Jeff Zabudsky was also on hand to congratulate both students, and update alumni on the latest developments at Sheridan, including progress on the Mississauga Campus slated to open next Fall.

Thanks to Devin Lim (Computer Animation '07), Director of Young Alumni for the School of Animation, Arts and Design Alumni Chapter, and his committee for organizing an outstanding night.
