ECE Grads Celebrate the Week of the Child

February 26, 2010

ECE grads were honoured by their peers

Early childhood education (ECE) grads were honoured by their peers last month for their efforts to enrich the lives of young children.

Lexi Deece-Cassidy (ECE '96) received the Children’s Services Award from the Peel Branch of the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO). Past President of the AECEO Peel Branch, Lexi is a well-known speaker in the areas of school discipline, non-violent conflict resolution and early childhood education.

The AECEO Peel Branch also recognized Hira Irfan (ECE ’09) and former ECE student Adriana Marton for their academic and extracurricular achievements.

The award presentations were part of the Peel Branch’s Week of the Child activities which included the annual Krayons for Kids drive. Sheridan is a sponsor of the campaign which collects and donates art supplies to organizations helping children in the Peel Region.

“We have a very long and close relationship with Sheridan. They have been and continue to be one of our most committed supporters. A large percentage of our members are Sheridan alumni, including most of our Board of Directors,” says Priti Roy, President of the AECEO Peel Branch.
