Ten Sheridan alumni up for Canadian Cinema Editors Awards

Ten Sheridan alumni will vie for Canadian Cinema Editors Awards when the winners are announced on May 30.

The nominees are alumni of Sheridan’s Media Arts, Animation, and Advanced Television and Film programs, with graduation years ranging from 1980 to 2011.

In addition, two Sheridan grads are among the five individuals to be named Student Merit Recipients for work they created while in school. Zachary Roth, a 2014 Media Fundamentals alumnus and current Bachelor of Film and Television student, will be recognized for Rosie. Brendan Barnard (Bachelor of Film and Television ’18) will be honoured for After Animals.

Congratulations to the following nominees:

  • Thomas Berger (Advanced Television and Film '04) is nominated for Best Editing in Animation for Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups and Space Between Stars.
  • Also nominated in Best Editing for Animation is Lee Maund (Media Arts ’89), for Hotel Transylvania: Fangceanera.
  • Steve Taylor (Advanced Television and Film ’04), up for Best Editing in Docu-series/Faculty for Hip-Hop Evolution: The Southern Way.
  • Wendy Hallam Martin (Media Arts '87) is nominated for The Handmaid's Tale: Episode 201 June for Best Editing in TV Drama.
  • Nominated for Best Editing in MOW/Mini Series is Lisa Grootenboer (Animation '82) for Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey.
  • Ryan Monteith (Media Arts ’00) received three of the five nominations up for Best Editing in Reality/Competition/Lifestyle. He was part of the teams to work on The Amazing Race: The Battle of the Two Courtney’s, Top Chef Canada: Que Rico and Top Chef Canada: Wine of the Tiger.
  • Teresa Hannighan (Media Arts ’80) is nominated for I Beat Up My Rapist in the category of Best Editing in Short Film.
  • Christine Armstrong (Media Arts ’07) is nominated for Best Editing in Web Based Series for Kristal Clear 107: Only with Heart.
  • Also nominated in Best Editing in Web Based Series is Shelley Therrien (Advanced Television and Film ’11) for Ghost BFF.
  • Courtney Goldman (Advanced Television and Film ’08) is up for Best Editing in Family: MOW, Live Action for Odd Squad: World Turned Odd.
