Business experts weigh in on journey to become Sheridan University

Members of Sheridan’s Business Hall of Fame received an update on Sheridan’s vision for the future from President and CEO Jeff Zabudsky at the Hazel McCallion Campus in October.

The alumni, both industry leaders and generous donors to the college, were pleased that applied learning will remain a focus of Sheridan University.

“It was the foundation for our success,” said Chris Galante (Business Administration-Marketing, 1979), President of Bass Paper and Packaging, who credits Sheridan Business with teaching him the tools to eventually run his own company.

Nine Hall of Fame members and guests toured Sheridan’s newest campus before gathering for a reception and dinner. Among the guests were two students from the Sheridan Enactus team representing the voice of Sheridan business students: Bryan McClatchie (Business Administration, Marketing, 2nd year) and Veina Wang (Bachelor of Business Administration, Global Business Management, 2nd year).  Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders who aim to improve their communities through entrepreneurial action.

The event also provided an opportunity for alumni to meet Sylvia Lowndes, the new Dean of Sheridan’s Faculty of Business. Former Dean, Bill Holmes (now Vice Provost at Sheridan) spoke about the new business degree program mix as well as the advantages that these credentials will offer once Sheridan becomes a university.
