Athletic Therapy Clinic offers alumni top treatment at deep discount

October 21, 2014

Get a great rate on treatment at Sheridan’s top-notch Athletic Therapy Clinic. Open to the community, the centre treats everyone from elite athletes and weekend warriors, to those simply looking to become more active. Home to one of the best athletic therapy programs in Canada, the facility offers alumni and their families a rate of $15 for the first referral and $15 per treatment. It’s worth checking out, says Amanda Halls, (Sports Injury Management, 2002), Director of the clinic located at Brampton’s Davis Campus.

“We’ve got a $2.2 million facility here. The therapy pool is one of only two like it in Ontario.” What’s more, she says, by choosing the centre, patients are investing in both themselves and Sheridan students. “You are allowing students to gain invaluable practical experience under top professionals in the field, while reaping the benefits of becoming or staying active.”

In addition to members of the outside community, the centre treats Sheridan varsity athletes, as well as athletes at local high schools free of charge. The facility boasts many success stories – not only of elite athletes going on to play high stakes games but of people who want to improve their quality of life, explains Amanda. “It’s a good feeling to help the elite athlete get back to form, but it is especially rewarding to see someone develop an active lifestyle through therapy and become healthier and happier.”

Amanda and Clinic Manager, Nicole DiFilippo (Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences- Athletic Therapy, 2008) are among the many grads who will part of the volunteer medical team at the PanAm Games in 2015. They definitely bring some high-level experience to their roles. Amanda is the Head Therapist for Field Hockey Canada`s women’s indoor team and Nicole is Head Therapist for Water Polo Canada.
