Alumni: Engineering Students Want your Voice

October 15, 2012

All Sheridan students are eager to connect with people who have hands-on experience in their field of study and engineering students are no exception. That’s why recent grads launched the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Student Chapter this September.
A class presentation by an industry guest speaker last year left Manufacturing Management program students excited and encouraged, spurring them on to form the chapter. “Keeping track of industry trends and opportunities through those working in the field is a good motivator for today’s students,” says Eric Sue, who helped organize the chapter. Eric will graduate from the Manufacturing Management Co-op program this December.

“We are urging manufacturing program alumni to share their experiences with students,” says Eric. The chapter can also offer a direct line to some of the best new talent coming out of the college.

Alumni are invited to be guest speakers during monthly meetings, and forward ideas for chapter activities. The first guest speakers’ seminar will be on Additive Manufacturing. Visit www.smetoronto.ca and click the Student Chapters tab.
