Dr. Anna Boshnakova is a professor of Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and teaches a variety of cultural anthropology and creativity courses in the Degree Breadth area. She specializes in theory and history of culture, philosophy of music, biomusicology, and music archaeology. Her research focuses on the reconstruction of cultural realities through recovering and exploring ethnographic and archaeological physical, written, and visual narratives.

Prior to joining the FHASS in 2009 she was a lecturer at the Department of History of Philosophy, St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, a senior expert/curator at the National Museum of History, Bulgaria, and a visiting researcher at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Halle, Germany.

As an active member of The International Study Group on Music Archaeology (DAI, Berlin, Germany) and The Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS), Dr. Anna Boshnakova is engaged in inter-disciplinary collaboration with classical historians and archaeologists, archaeomusicologists, and neuropsychologists, and her research is recorded in two monographs, textbook chapters, and numerous articles in scientific journals.
