Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)


Please note: The College will be closed from December 22, 2017 and we will be returning on January 2, 2018.


Sheridan's LINC Program is a FREE language instruction program for newcomers to Canada.

Our LINC program provides:

  • An academic approach and standard suited to internationally trained professionals
  • A dedicated language lab with Internet access and ESL software
  • Separate skills for each CLB (Listening/Speaking focus and Reading/Writing focus) 
  • Skill development focusing on either listening, speaking and grammar and/or reading, writing and grammar
  • Access to Sheridan services including academic and career advisement, and library access 

Sheridan's LINC Program Offers:

  • Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) from 3 to 8
  • Programming during the day and part-time courses in the evening
  • Training to develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and knowledge of English grammar

Program Eligibility

LINC is FREE of charge if you are:

  • A Permanent Resident or
  • A Convention Refugee (Notice of Decision) or
  • Government Assisted Refugee (GAR) or
  • Privately Sponsored Refugee (PSR)
     
If you are a Canadian citizen, you may want to apply to our ESL program

If you are a newcomer to Canada, you may be eligible for OSLT or ELT programs.

Attend one of our weekly Information Sessions:
  • Davis Campus (Brampton) on Tuesdays at 10:30am in room B236B 
  • Trafalgar Campus (Oakville) on Wednesdays at 10:30am in room B358
  • HMC Campus (Mississauga) on Thursdays at 10:30am in room B320C
