John Perkins

Professor, Business Math

John has been teaching for over 40 years in both the Secondary and Post-secondary Education fields. He has a B.Sc. (Nuclear Radiation Physics) from the University of Toronto where he won an honour award as an outstanding student, B.P.E. from McMaster University, Type A Teaching Certificate from Faculty of Ed., U. of T. (B.Ed.) , and Specialist Certificate in Adult Education from York University.

John was also a stock broker, passing the Ontario Securities Course with Honours and was licensed with the Toronto Stock Exchange, Chicago Board of Trade, New York Institute of Finance, National Association of Securities Dealers, Commodities Futures Trading, and the New York Stock Exchange, Amex, and NASDAQ. During this time he worked in Los Angeles; London (England), as a Money Market Manager; and Toronto.

He has represented Canada in athletics and music and has won numerous awards in both areas. He also garnered an Excellence in Teaching Award. John has been a farmer most of his life on a Certified Organic farm. He also has played in numerous Bluegrass bands over the years, producing 4 albums, and winning 7 awards at the Central Canadian Bluegrass Awards Show.

John was a founding Director of the Epilepsy Research Fund of Canada and President of the Peel and Peel/Halton Athletic Associations.

He is married and has three children and lives in a rural area of Ontario, enjoying the peace and quiet of the country. He has retired from farming, but is still active in music.
