Ian Fisher

Ian Fisher

Professor, Advertising

Ian Fisher (B.A., C.A.A.P.) brings extensive marketing and advertising agency work experience to the classroom. He is proud of his role in sustaining the pre-eminent position of the Sheridan Advertising and Marketing Communications program. 

Ian’s work experience includes client-side marketing and account management positions at two major Canadian advertising agencies. He provided marketing and advertising direction for hard goods, electronics, government, financial and tourism sectors and packaged goods.

Ian has been a professor at Sheridan for over 27 years. After joining the faculty, he became the program co-ordinator, responsible for curriculum development as well as continuing to teach in the advertising program. He also was asked to (and did) co-ordinate the Journalism and Corporate Communications programs at different times during his tenure at Sheridan, in addition to directing the advertising program. He has also taught advertising at two universities in Britain.

Ian was invited to co-ordinate all training for the ACA (Association of Canadian Advertisers), which he did in addition to his duties at Sheridan, providing curriculum development and delivery in Toronto and St. John for five years. Ian has written a software manual for Nielsen/IMS for use throughout North America and advises colleagues on technology issues. He has been a frequent judge for the Ontario Community Newspapers Association and other advertising competitions. He is also past President of the Advertising Educators’ Association of Canada and the Autism Society of Ontario, Peel Chapter.
