Victor  Bravo

Professor, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology

Victor has had an extensive career in Plastics Engineering with 25 years of experience in research, product development and process engineering activities. His areas of specialty include polymer composites, plastic and composite part design, tooling design and polymer processing operations.

Prior to coming to the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Technology at Sheridan, he led the creation of the Injection Molding Technology Centre at INDESCA, in Venezuela, with the objective of developing state-of-the art technologies for concurrent design of injection molded parts and utilizing CAD and CAE tools.

Victor has developed a vast career in Canada covering both industry and academia with experience in production, R&D and QA/QC activities. He was an Engineering Manager for Carney Timber Company where he directed a team that introduced technological advances in natural fibre composites for the construction industry, and ensured that these new materials met the rigorous requirements established by regulating agencies in the USA, Canada and Europe. More recently, Victor led the technical team that kick-started operations at the Magna-NRC Composites Centre of Excellence, a partnership between the Canadian government’s National Research Council and Magna International to develop the new generation of lightweight composite materials for the automotive industry.

Victor is currently an Adjunct Professor at University of Western Ontario and has worked closely with researchers at McMaster University and University of Toronto. In 2013 he was awarded Transport Canada’s Clean Transportation Initiative grant in support of his research in the area of natural fibre composites for the transportation industry.

Victor holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from LUZ (Venezuela) as well as M.Eng and Ph.D. degrees from the department of Chemical Engineering at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario). Victor is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
